Our Brass Root poet

Ray Dawson.

Born in 1960 to Raymond and Annie Dawson, Ray is a true son of Yorkshire. He grew up in the vastly diverse city of Bradford, where inspiration and education could be garnered from everyday life as well as formal schooling.
During his working life Ray followed his Father into the art of chrome plating and metal finishing and he ran his own company for many years.

Ray is also a talented drummer touring the length and breadth of the UK with a Beatles tribute band. His other hobbies include many sports including cricket and he loves the game of darts in which he gained quite a reputation. Ray takes pleasure from all forms of writing but his first love has to be comedy. Having had four short theatre plays performed a few years ago. Ray got the bug and has been writing seriously ever since. He’s already had several scripts read by the BBC and smaller production companies but is yet to break into the medium that is television.
Through his involvement with firstyvs.com publishing, Ray has now turned his hand to writing novels and poetry. Though a modest man, he will tell you the transition wasn’t too difficult.

Ray does have an opinion on most subjects, through writing poetry; it allows him to express himself without being seen to be forcing his opinions on others.
